Experience tells us that people don’t become homeless when they run out of money. People become homeless when they run out of relationships. In order for chronically homeless neighbors to live successfully in our community and have a chance at living at their highest potential, there needs to be a housing solution that mirrors the kind of opportunities a person might have if they were being cared for by a family member. Micah is closer to realizing our vision for this project than we have ever been, with a site in Fredericksburg secured, and our rezoning application approved by the City of Fredericksburg in January 2025. We are working closely with our team of engineers and site developers, with a goal of breaking ground and beginning construction very soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Micah’s long-term plan for Jeremiah Community is to contain 109 small homes, plus various community amenities aimed at providing support for those living in the neighborhood to thrive.\u00a0 Phase one of construction would involve building 50 small homes, with a community center, shared garden space, and support services. Phase two (slated for future years) would add 59 more small homes, a health clinic, a memorial garden, workshops for income development, and a community market. In both phases, the goal of the community is to meet the unique needs of individuals overcoming homelessness.<\/span><\/p>\n
