Funding
Places like the Jeremiah Community have been developed around the country with primarily private resources. We believe the same generosity exists in the Fredericksburg region. Funds will be needed for site acquisition, redevelopment and eventually construction of houses and amenities.
House Sponsors
We need 25-30 churches, businesses or other partners who want to build a house for a neighbor. We estimate the per home cost to be approximately $60,000. Each sponsor will have the opportunity to pick the colors, name the house and meet the first person who gets to live there.
Favorable Zoning
Local zoning ordinances have not kept up with new, innovative ways to develop housing for those with unique economic and social needs. Talk with your elected leaders about policy changes that would make housing development both affordable and functional.
Tell the story
Help others understand that the conscience of a community can be measured in how it cares for its least relevant neighbor. Our chronically homeless need more than four walls, a roof and a case manager; they need community….a Jeremiah community.
