Our Vision

Our solution is to create a life-sharing community, where neighbors can live affordably, have purpose and grow meaningful relationships.

Housing

Small houses rented for $300 to $500 per month, including utilities. Each home built by a sponsoring church, business, or community member who want to be part of a local network working to welcome our neighbors home.

Relationship

Neighbors would be supported by a residential care team of case managers, volunteers, churches, and professional service providers. Opportunities will be presented in the life of the community. Missional residents will live onsite to provide support and model healthy community.

Purpose

Neighbors supported by a residential care team of case managers, volunteers, churches, and professional service providers. Opportunities for community engagement presented in the life of the neighborhood. Missional residents provide support and model healthy community.

our goal

A home for our neighbors

Experience tells us that people don’t become homeless when they run out of money. People become homeless when they run out of relationships. In order for chronically homeless neighbors to live successfully in our community and have a chance at living at their highest potential, there needs to be a housing solution that mirrors the kind of opportunities a person might have if they were being cared for by a family member. Micah is closer to realizing our vision for this project than we have ever been, with a site in Fredericksburg identified and under contract, and our rezoning application submitted to the City Planning Commission

Micah’s long-term plan for Jeremiah Community is to contain 109 small homes, plus various community amenities aimed at providing support for those living in the neighborhood to thrive.  Phase one of construction would involve building 50 small homes, with a community center, shared garden space, and support services. Phase two (slated for future years) would add 59 more small homes, a health clinic, a memorial garden, workshops for income development, and a community market. In both phases, the goal of the community is to meet the unique needs of individuals overcoming homelessness.
