Our Partners
Jeremiah Community will build upon Micah’s long-standing partnerships with key service providers, such as the Rappahannock Community Services Board, Rappahannock Goodwill Industries, Fredericksburg Department of Social Services, Mary Washington Hospital, Germanna Nursing School, Fredericksburg Christian Health Center, and Central Virginia Health Services. When possible, a presence from each of these partners will be established on-site in the community.
Experienced Micah Ministries staff in housing stabilization, health resource connections, income development, and basic needs areas will be leveraged to offer professional case management on-site. Volunteers from the church and broader region will be vital to establishing support systems for those living in the community. Additional partners will be sought to establish micro-enterprise (i.e. arts community, horticulture, food service) opportunities. As additional needs may be identified in the community, additional partners will be brought in. Micah Ministries is very experienced with coordinating with mainstream resources and service providers, and we will use our community connections to increase services into the community as needed.
HKS, a national Architectural and Design firm, worked with us to conduct a feasibility study and develop a masterplan for Jeremiah Community in our region. We are also working with SDI, a local engineering firm, and Tricord Companies, a local developer, to explore options. Atlantic Builders emerged as a key essential partner as we progressed in our planning. Micah is also pleased to be working with local architect John Burger for the design of the Community Center, and with KTGY for the design of the small homes. Throughout the process, Micah has benefited from the expertise and partnership of Hirschler Law.
The full project, which will also include an apartment complex in later phases, is being implemented in partnership with SupportWorks Housing (formerly Virginia Supportive Housing), a non-profit developer with three decades experience building supportive homes for the chronically homeless across the state.
Virginia Housing, the City of Fredericksburg, the Stafford EDA, and Mary Washington Healthcare are indispensable partners with Micah Ministries on this project to develop enough units for chronically homeless neighbors that no one has to sleep outside.
